CLIMATE CHANGE CENTER was established in 2008 as Korea's first non-governmental organization
to promote the seriousness of climate change and respond to climate change.
The Climate Change Center (CCC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Commission, and the Embassy of France in Korea, will host the “International Conference Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Paris Agreement” on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Council Chamber, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
This conference marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, taking place immediately after COP30 in Belém, Brazil, where countries around the world submitted their enhanced 2035 NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) at a historic turning point.
Over the past decade, the global community has focused on setting reduction targets and establishing institutional frameworks; now, the coming decade will move toward strengthening the capacity and credibility of implementation.
In June, André Corrêa do Lago, President of COP30, proposed a new concept, the “Globally Determined Contribution (GDC)”, which seeks to integrate the climate actions of non-state actors — including companies, cities, and local governments — into the formal framework of the Paris Agreement. This initiative signals a new direction in global climate governance, aiming to complement governmental limitations with private-sector innovation and local implementation capacity.
Amid these developments, this international conference will focus on three key pillars — science and technology, market mechanisms, and participatory governance — to examine the evolving international climate order after COP30 and explore strategies to enhance Korea’s NDC implementation capacity and strengthen its social foundation for action.
The conference will cover:
• Evaluation of enhanced NDC implementation and reinforcement of science- and market-based effectiveness
• New structures for corporate and local government transition strategies and public-private cooperation
• Expansion of social consensus through youth and civil society participation
The event will feature a keynote address by Laurent Fabius, former Prime Minister of France and President of COP21, along with distinguished speakers from international organizations, government, industry, academia, civil society, and youth networks.
Moving beyond the “shared promise” of the Paris Agreement, the world is now entering a new decade of shared implementation. This conference aims to mark the beginning of that journey and to serve as a stage for Korea to demonstrate its renewed climate leadership within the international community. We look forward to your interest and participation in this meaningful event.
